"Beware of '50s cartoons!

I'm not saying I don't like '50s cartoons-I do, but in order to do those styles well, you need to understand how they came to be.

If you start by drawing angular characters before you understand your principles, you will put the angles all in the wrong places and not have any control over your designs and animation-like most modern cartoons." - John K's Blog

Regarding animation, why does a "Silver Age" only apply to Disney, but not other studios like Warner Bros. or MGM, let alone animation as a whole between the 1950s-60s (between the Golden and Dark Ages of Animation)?

Last night, I was on a Wikipedia page about the "Golden Age of American Animation" and "Animation in the US during the Television Era", and it stated that the Dark Age of Animation is also called the "Bronze Age" of Animation, and that the Golden Age was sometimes divided into a "Silver Age", due to limited-animation studios like UPA, Hanna-Barbera, Jay Ward Productions, and DePatie-Freleng Enterprises.

For rubber-hose, you have the fact that it evolved into the "Preston Blair" cartoon style from the 1940s. You can also compare most of the Disney and Looney Tunes characters' designs from their debut to their designs from the 1940s-50s. You can also compare Bosko, Foxy, Roxy, and Goopy Geer's original designs from the early Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons to their more modern designs from Tiny Toon Adventures. Other than that, rubber-hose remains unchanged in CGI.

In the case of limited animation, you have:

  1. Dave, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore's simplistic designs from The Alvin Show compared to their volumetric designs from the 1983 series (preferably from The Chipmunk Adventure along with the post-Chipmunk Adventure episodes and specials).
  2. The designs of Rocky, Bullwinkle, Sherman, and Mr. Peabody from "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends (1959)" compared to their CGI designs from DreamWorks Animation's "Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014)" and the short film "Rocky and Bullwinkle (2014)".
  3. Hanna-Barbera's Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo Bear in "Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)", along with Top Cat, his gang, and Officer Dibble in "Top Cat Begins (2015)".
  4. Debut appearances of mascots like Tony the Tiger, the Trix Rabbit, the Nesquik Bunny, and Toucan Sam compared to their designs during the 1990s-2000s.
  5. Of course, you have the many iterations of Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Gang, and you have the updated designs of Josie and the Pussycats ("Musical Evolution"), along with Jabberjaw and the Neptunes ("Running Underwater") from the Cartoon Network Groovies.
