Teachers - 403b and Pension questions.

Hi everyone,

  1. Just curious how people handle their RIA fees when it comes to their 403bs. I use Aspire Financial and I was thinking of moving away from using an advisor if possible. My portfolio is pretty diverse, but 2% for an advisor fee doesn’t feel right. Looking for some perspective.

  2. I figured I’d also ask - since I’m a teacher and there are a lot of various opinions on this, right now I contribute 7% of my income to my pension. Do those of you with a pension include the 7% contribution in your retirement savings goal, be it 15% or 25% or whatever it is, or does the pension go on top of your retirement savings plan?

Refund Timeline - updated

Hi all,

Pleased to announce the final nail of my PSLF journey is over, the last of my refund came in the mail today, some three months after discharge. Not really sure why the refund came in two parts, but it doesn’t matter.

So the timeline -

July - October = Four IBR payments to get all loans to 120 8 loans only needed one payment, two needed four.

Golden Letters November 2025 ( November 9th, I believe)

Discharge January 8th 2026

Refund #1 dated January 20th 2026

Refund #2 dated February 18th 2026

Refund #1 wire transferred on April 17th 2026

Refund #2 check in the mail April 22nd.

And now I never have to think about Mohela again! Congratulations to all who have reached this milestone, if there’s any way for me help any of you on your journey, do not hesitate to ask.
