Career Advice - GNEM 8/8/(8 maybe)
Hey everyone, I’m looking for a reality check and some strategic advice regarding my profile for top-tier Indian B-schools (ABC/BLACKI).
My Profile:
Academics: 8/8/8 (10th/12th/Grad).
Category: General Non-Engineer Male (GNEM).
Current Program: BBA (Digital Business & Entrepreneurship) at IIM Bangalore. ( If you don't know about this. It’s a 9-term online degree. I’ve finished 2/9 terms so far. The batch started at 1,000 but is declining as the curriculum gets significantly harder each term.)
- CFA Journey: Giving my CFA Level 1 this November.
- The "X-Factor" (Case Competitions)- only helpful for interviews
- 5 Wins: SRCC (2x), NIT R (2x), and FLAME University.
- 7 National Finals: IIM B, I, IIT K, SRCC (2x), DSE, and Masters' Union.
- Currently pivoting toward Corporate Case Comps to build a more industry-aligned CV.
The Plan:
- Complete CFA L1 in Nov 2026.
- Start dedicated CAT prep from Jan 2027 to Nov 2027
The Dilemma: While my spikes (case comps) are strong, and might add value in my interview round, I’m worried about the 8/8/8 acads and the "Online" tag of the BBA degree when competing against 9/9/9 GEMs/GNEMs with work experience.
