Looking for more information on a Vintage Rawlings jacket (70s, 80s, or 90s? Any past listings?)
Numerous searches on vintage sports archives, Depop, Reddit, Google/Lens, etc can’t seem to point me in the right location.
Searches have given me potential estimates in the 70s, 80s, and 90s; however, the only detailed information on the tag and era I’ve found mentioned that the tag style, “Made in U.S.A.” text, “For Care See Reverse” text, and absence of a separate tag specifically for care instructions all point towards the 1970s. From what I’ve read, separate tags for care instructions were made mandatory after 1972. *IF* that is true, that would mean this would have to be from 1971/1972 at the latest… The general condition makes me feel like that’s impossible, then again, the overall look and feel of the tag, as well as the look of the velcro on the middle pouch all lead me to believe it could be true. I could not find a single listing of this same silhouette. Lens mentioned a “batting cage practice jacket” as well as a “half zip anorak jacket”. Looks like it could’ve been a groundskeepers jacket? No listings of this specific piece after searching for any of those. If anyone has any further information on this specific piece, please let me know. Any and all help is appreciated.
(Side note… I found this at my local Goodwill in 2024 and it’s sat in my closet ever since. I’m from the home of the Little League World Series. Not sure if that may give more insight as to the authenticity and origins of this.)
