Would love some guidance...
Hey guys, I’m an international Master’s student here in Bremen and I’m honestly about to reach a breaking point with my search for a Pflichtpraktikum. I’ve been applying for months now and the constant rejections are starting to get to me. I’m pretty sure my Lebenslauf is solid, I’ve got it all in German, I have a few publications, and my project work is heavy on the technical side, but for some reason, it just isn’t clicking with employers.
I’ve been working really hard on my Sprachkenntnisse too. I started grinding in December to get through A2 and right now I’m deep into B1, practicing sentences daily and aiming for C1 eventually. I’m wondering if my current German level is the main thing holding me back, or if the local Arbeitsmarkt here is just way tougher than I expected for tech roles. I thought having the projects and the German CV would be enough to at least get a foot in the door, but it feels like I’m hitting a wall.
Is there something specific about the Bremen scene I’m missing? I’d love some honest advice on whether I’m doing something wrong or if I should just give up on finding something local and start looking at Hamburg or Berlin instead. If anyone has been through this or has tips on how to actually land an internship here as an international, I’d really appreciate the help.
