"Portorož Airport, 1984. In 1980, Portorož Airport received a licence from the Federal Committee for Transport and Communications to handle international commercial traffic. The following year, an extension to the passenger terminal was completed, along with the construction of a control tower, meteorological facilities, a border crossing point and a visitor information centre. By 1984, the runway had been extended to 1,200 metres and widened to 30 metres. That same year, the airport welcomed its first commercial services, with Inex-Adria launching flights on the Portorož – Belgrade – Tivat route using its Dash 7 aircraft"
