Picked up this rifle from a friend for 250 on Friday. Aside from a crack in the upper handguard on the left side, it's in great shape. Bolt's smooth, trigger's nice and crisp, bore's in great shape too. After doing some research though, it seems that these rifles are best used with 7.62×53R, rather than the standard Russian load. Is that true? If so, I can't seem to find it anywhere and I unfortunately don't have access to any reloading equipment at the moment. There are others too that say that the whole 53 vs 54 thing is just fuddlore and that they're both fine to use. I just don't want to ruin this thing. Any advice?
