New to Sorcery and TCGs—Hoping to Find Others Nearby

Hello Sorcerers,

I’ve completely fallen in love with Sorcery cards. I’m close to finishing all four sets, with about $400 left in uniques to complete Gothic. I also have a good number of duplicate uniques and foils that I’d much rather trade than sell—selling just comes with a lot of hassle that I’m not quite ready to deal with.

I’m also pretty new to TCGs in general, and honestly, it feels a bit intimidating trying to learn how to play without a local community. I’ve reached out to every TCG shop in my area to see if they’d consider carrying Sorcery, but so far, none have shown interest.

I really wish there were more support for people like me who are completely new to TCGs. A lot of the “how to play Sorcery” content seems geared toward players who already have experience with other card games. I want to learn, I want to trade, and I want to be part of a community. I’d even be willing to help build one or host events myself—but I don’t want it to feel like the blind leading the blind, since I worry that wouldn’t gain much traction.

The closest place to me in Bakersfield, California that I’ve found that carries Sorcery and hosts events is in Los Angeles, which realistically means committing to a full 12-hour day—about 2 hours to get there and potentially 4+ hours in traffic on the way back.

I guess I’m just feeling a bit down about how excited I am for this game, but not having anyone nearby to share that excitement with.
