So… i have offers for st andrews and edinburgh, bsc geography.. i am a scottish student who has experienced a normal secondary school life, im from a nice background and upbringing but im not exactly upper class and wouldn’t describe myself as posh, which is what i have been told most students at st andrews can be. I love the idea of edinburgh and it has always been my dream, although the student satisfaction rates seen pretty low and i have seen people commenting on how isolated and widespread the university can be (especially lecture buildings) and stating the university care more about the profits rather than students. i stay around an hour away from edinburgh so would have to stay for the 4 years, which would be pretty pricey and i would have to work very hard as i want to avoid loans. Whereas st andrews i would be able to stay for my first/second year and travel for the other 2 years and hopefully do a year abroad.. maybe staying at home would help me focus on my dissertation and studies?
I really loved the idea of never being bored in edinburgh, i LOVE doing things on my own like getting the buses places, exploring, going on the train on little trips, the beach, the job opportunities, museums and monuments and don’t get me started on hogmanay and Christmas time its just a dream, i feel if i don’t go i will forever wonder what my life would be like if i decided to go, i would be independent and happy! maybe… and i would regret it if i chose not to go! even though i would most likely do my masters or postgrad there. The thing is.. for st andrews my parents want me to go there! so i don’t want to let them down. i know st andrews can be very draining and burn you out if you don’t manage to get right in there, WHAT should i do??
PLEASE HELP!! i only have 3 days to decide…
