Custom sliding window no deeper than 4 inches
I recently bought a property and there were a couple of things here and there to be fixed/modernized.
One of this is a window in the bathroom, it's right next to the bathtub, so it would receive water every time we use the shower.
The problem is that the frame and structure is made of wood, that will surely rot eventually. The previous owner put a curtain in front of it, so basically the bathtub has 2 curtains, the one on the wall side and the one on the other side that one would just slide before/after entering the bathtub.
I was aware of this and we we're planning to get it replaced it with a PVC one, like the one in the place we rented before.
Unfortunately I found out that the wall thickness is just shy of 4'' and all windows have a standard depth of 4.5''.
The wall is between the bathroom and the stairs to the basement, so that window is not facing the outside of the house.
I've called plenty of companies and some of them said they can't help, because of that non-standard depth.
Some said to get a custom window and they will install it.
Some others said they can do it, but those didn't even showed up at the house to take a look, they said yes based only on photos, including 3 photos of a tape measure along the 3 axis to show the precise measures of the current window, so they are aware of the ~4'' depth.
Anyone has experience with something similar?
I've called multiple companies to see if they can make such window, but all have said that they can't change the depth, only other characteristics.
Does this window even exist? or I should just resign to have 2 curtains?
