Unit Cards for Maul Shadow Lord - Homebrew

Finished Maul Shadow Lord and really enjoyed it. Now my creative juices are flowing and I want to create some custom scenarios to play out the epic moments in legion.

To that end I made some custom unit cards that I'm going to use and thought I'd share. Here's the best part, in a republic list their completely legal! I just made the custom Jedi into a version that I thought most closely resembled the characters and tallied the points and added the keywords (for a Jedi General... there's a lot). I then reskinned Padme to be Lawson.

My initial thought is a recon game that includes Daki, Devon, Lawson, Maul, and a squad of Mandalorian super commandos with Rook vs Vader, inquisitors x2, and a whole bunch of naked Storm Troopers.

I'm debating whether to make it just a straight up fight or if its a Devon and company trying to move across the map to escape. Hit me with your ideas on how to score victory points for each side. I'm thinking of making it an escape across the map but Devon's group starts with 100 extra points but the empire can endlessly respawn their storm trooper units.

I'm also looking for STLs for Marrok and Eleventh Brother (Crow), anyone know of any out there?

Played a recon game this week with my buddy and I with both of us trying out some of the new updates that dropped. Short answer really liking the new toys.

This was also my maiden voyage for my forest board and really happy with how it turned out.

But here are my quick takeaways.

  • Thrawn is a beast. A huge token spewing machine. Then as a bonus he's not too shabby as a fighter as well. He's not the best in melee but he's no slouch either and can do some work in a pinch.
  • New Thrawn and High command cards add a ton of flavor even when it backfires in your face in spectacular fashion. Using the new high command card "The Empire Does Not Tolerate Failure" on Thrawn and a full squad of 5 death troopers throwing 10 dice and scoring 9 hits on a wounded Sabine and watching her save... every... single... No worries, lets send in Thrawn with a bunch of aims and pierce, surely he can finish her off. Silly empire is no match for red saves! 2 wounds needed to defeat Sabine, 14 dice rolled, 13 wounds scored, 13 red saves (1 wound gets through thanks to pierce), 4 wounds taken in return for such a spectacular failure.
  • 5th Brother upgrade for riots adds some needed punch with Ram and Pierce. In the picture you may spy the Royal Guard (my 5th brother proxy) in the midst of some riots and they did some serious work. Definitely my best performing unit of the game. It was also strangely satisfying watching a rebel squad charge my riots for me to discard Thrawn's "We Must Wait and Watch" command card to hit them right back.
  • Holy Cassian Andor is an absolute monster. That unit upgrade card might as well be stapled to a super squad of fleet troopers. I whittled that squad down to a single miniature... only Cassian left and he still throws how many dice?! and he's cheaper than fifth brother? Such a good card.
  • Probe Droids! Probe Droids are going to make Storm Trooper squads great again. Through a probe droid observing then another probe droid converting observation token to an aim, plus a few more aims from Thrawn, and another aim from normal aim action, having a super squad of storm troopers having 4+ aim tokens plus a few observation tokens felt a little obscene until I only managed to get 5 hits after all of those rerolls.
  • Assault 1 on scouts is scary. Thermal charges have always been fun but now they're just extra fun.

Outcome of the game was the rebels absolutely curb stomped my empire. Cassian Fleets deleting my poor dewback and the dice god's deciding to make certain rebel units invulnerable was too much to overcome. Still a very fun game and we're loving the changes.
