Take commerce ONLY after READING this..
i am myself a commerce student and passed 12th recently..... and when i search about career option in commerce field.... i am rather disappointed and regretfull taking this stream..
i am not telling you to not take commerce everyone has different situation and preference.... i my case i was good in academics but still choose commerce over pcm cause didnt wanna go in rat race.. but now all i have is confusion regarding career and regret....
just a piece of advice for juniors...
if you want to take commerce... you must know what you will do in future (career wise)..
NO brainer that commerce field limit your options.. so you must fully reseach about career path you will choose because......
the only way to make a lucrative career in commerce field in india is either do CA/CS or MBA from tier 1 or 1.5 college only and TRUST me when i say only these option can get you a good job......
and to get career like IB/consultants which has high barrier and CA and Mba is need to reach this level....
I KNOW many people will say acca, cfa or cpa..
so lemme me give you a REAL image about these courses:
ACCA is not valued in india.... it will fetch you only 6-7lpa.... which is not so good considering the cost to do acca. (YOU WILL BE CONSIDERED AS CHEAP CA)
NOW CFA i know, its is a good certificate but only when if combined with a GOOD PG degree... only cfa won't get you a job and again chech the roi (1.2 lakh for 1 paper which means around 3.6 lakh for all 3 level and still won't make you job ready)
and other courses like cpa, cma or us cpa are just names in india you will get close to nothing with these certificates....
and for comparison, an average guy can get in good tier 1 or 2 college with much less effort compare to CA..(yes its truth) and get much more salary than CA... if learn skill (which is relatively easy compare to upskilling in commerce field).
both tech and non tech sector has brutal working life... yet tech people get high salary compare to commerce grad and on the topic of unemployment bba/bcom grad have high unemployment compare to btech....
so in a nutshell, in india tech industry provide better pay with low effort compare to commerce/finance sector... (cant argue about low job security in tech sector )
so choose commerce stream wisely.... and only after you do throughly research about career in this field.....
choice is yours = 1) enjoy 11th 12th and heavy struggle later...
- struggle hard for 2 year (11th 12th) and get easy life later if got good college.....
