Swing Dancing in Bangkok!
For anyone who's wondered if there's actually a swing dance scene in Bangkok — there is.
Been going to Jelly Roll Jazz Club in Ari for a while now. They're based at Yellow Lane Cafe 2nd floor, right near BTS Ari. Classes every Sunday and Wednesday covering Lindy Hop, Charleston, Solo Jazz and Tap. Beginner course (Lindy Hop 1) is 2,900 THB, includes unlimited retakes and 5 Social Dance Party passes. No partner needed, no experience needed.
Small thing I appreciated — they put out free water and snacks during the social dance. Two hours of dancing in Bangkok heat, it adds up.
The format is good because you take the class then stay for the social dance right after. You're practicing with real people the same night. There's also a Sunday Starter Workshop every week, 300 THB, 45 minutes of basics then straight into the party. Low commitment way to try it first.
They run bigger events too. Swing Partout takes swing dancing to venues around Bangkok and Thailand, Lumpini Hall, rooftops, always with live jazz. And once a year they host Swing Era, an international swing dance festival. This year August 20 to 23, 2026. International instructors, competitions, live bands. Apparently the biggest swing event in Southeast Asia right now.
Community is welcoming. Most people started with zero background.
