I'm only somewhat familiar with shotguns, my parents gave me my 20 gauge brand new on my 13th birthday (1991) and rarely had opportunities to use it. I'm a fisherman more than a hunter.

I have the basic stock barrel it came with, which I'm not sure if it's considered a long barrel or what. It was most likely a Walmart purchase.

I can go to a friend's house who lives rural for shooting and I'm considering getting a short barrel specifically for home defense, and it would pretty much stay on the gun for target practice. I don't really need the accuracy of a long barrel.

Again, Im basically a rookie here despite owning this gun for 35 years. Any education you offer me here about barrel options is appreciated.

Anyone else have this crazy thing happening where they try to sleep talk while wearing a nasal CPAP mask?

The airflow up your nose won't let you talk normally. You end up making these incredibly alarming choking/raspy sounds even though you aren't actually choking. I've freaked my wife out with this more than once. I am pronouncing the words with my lips but there's no vocal cord action, just terrible raspy sounds being partially formed into words.

I distinctly remember in my dream that I was trying to talk but couldn't talk properly.

In my dream it felt like a really intense speech impediment or neurological disorder. I could think clearly but the ability to speak clearly just "didn't work".

It made me feel helpless and trapped in my own mind.

I think it gave me an idea of how those with cerebral palsey might feel since it frequently effects their ability to speak. Or, stroke victims.
