I found a forum post written by my dad from January 2000
I typed in the name of the little town in Ireland my grandfather was born in on a genealogy forum and it returned one result, posted under my dads full name (middle name too lol), one word, all lower case. My Dad was asking if anybody knew anything about his fathers parents.
There was one reply, posted five years later in June 2005. They didn't answer the question, just recommended he check out another genealogy site.
I found this weirdly existential, in the time it took to receive a reply my Dad moved twice and two children.
My parents are split and they don't talk, there's not much left suggesting they were ever married, but for some reason my Dad decided to sign off the post by leaving a signature that included my mums name too, as in "Regards, Jack and Jill Robertson" (not their actual names).
Reading that was honestly a little upsetting, for the longest time it was only the existence of my siblings and I that our parents ever loved eachother. Now it's us and forum post from 2000.
