My first, and current setup
Hi all, I just wanted to share the starting point of my homelabbing journey.
This is my current server, a Lenovo Thinkcentre M900 Tiny with an i7-6700t, 16 GB RAM, and a 256 GB MSATA SSD. I’ve got a killer deal on a barebones system, with only the CPU included, and I’ve gutted an old laptop with bad power delivery for ram and the SSD. I’ve put another 8 GB stick in it, since the laptop only had one, and I figured I’d need more. This is its current state, the next upgrade will be a 1 TB 2,5” drive, I’m not sure if I’ll get a HDD or an SSD yet, as it will be only used for storage.
I use Ubuntu Server for the OS, and CasaOS for a GUI I can manage remotely. I’ve set up a Fabric based Minecraft server, Pi-Hole and Tailscale so far, and I plan on doing Immich as well once I have the extra storage. I’ll probably try to set up Jellyfin as well, but I’m not a huge movie or tv show guy, so it’s not a priority.
I’m open to any recommendations, be it hardware or software, or just some ideas on what else to do with it.
