Can an employer make you take your break at the end of your shift?

I often work a 5-hour shift. My boss says I have to take my break at the end of the shift - and that I have to stay there for the whole 30 minutes before clocking out (to show I took my break or something?) instead of leaving straight away.

This is ridiculous, but is it legal? Do I have to stay for my (unpaid!) break?
