Classic Traveller and its legacy
During the early and late 80s, there were a couple of games influenced by CT: Universe in 1981/82, and High Colonies in 1988/89.
These games carried a similar tone and style to the original, and presented an alternative to the changes newer editions of Traveller brought.
Fast forward twenty years or so and you have a new batch during the late 2000s, early 2010s: Thousand Suns in 2008, Diaspora in 2010, Parsec in 2012, and Cepheus Engine in 2016. These are much more grounded in CT (due to the OGL), and work more as variations of it, but still carry some of that aforementioned tone.
The question that arises is: What happened in those 20 years between 88 and 08? I've been going through some games from this period, and none really capture that CT feeling.
Maybe I'm missing a few obscure ones, so if anyone knows about a possible candidate, that'd be great
