The Serbian Dancing Woman (Tiktok Creepypasta 2022/23)

We are folklorist who have created a Reddit page to discuss internet urban legends.

In our first post we are discussing the Serbian Dancing Lady.

This was a creepypasta that blew up on Tiktok in 22/23, it started after a woman was filmed dancing a national Serbian dance alone at night, and went further with reports around a woman jumping in front of cars and dancing manically.

It all started with the initial creepy video but then became a hybrid digital urban legend part true and part not wherein people would make videos pretending to be her saying if you interrupted her or watched too long she'd come after you.

The internet ran with it, as often happens and soon the woman was an agent of death or possessed, but the real heart of this mystery is much more human and close to home and tells the tale of national pride and people being pushed to the brink.

Is anyone here familiar with the story and if so what do you think was going on there, in our post we think it's a combination of a mental unless person, and then that being viewed through the lens of creepy video, but we are open to discussion. If you want to read our full thoughts then head over to our Reddit page.

The Dancing Woman Of Serbia

Hi Everyone,

We are amateur folklorists and have started a resort page to talk about internet folkore and urban legends, from a perspective of not only the story itself but how did it spread, evolve and end.

We are very passionate about digital folkore as the internet belongs to everyone and so are truly communal stories.

We are very discussion focused as well.

Our first post was about the Dancing Woman Of Serbia a Tiktok spooky thing from 2022/23 which is interesting as it merged together elements of traditional Eastern European folklore with real documented events and a probable hoax video.

The whole thing got turned into a spectacle as I'm sure you can imagine and the online narrative quickly became supernatural, but the story itself is fascinating in how modern digital folkore is created.

If you're interested we wrote up our thoughts in depth on our Reddit page.

If any of you want to discuss it more fire away on this post or that.

It was a very creepy encounter style video.

That's the whole point of our Reddit page.
