Tache Noire - a criminally underrated immersive sim
Let me start off by saying - Tache Noire might be one of the greater indie immersive sims created in the last decade.
The game isn't without its jank, however the jank itself also leads to some completely charming and genuinely special moments in game. If you're a fan of survival horror and games like Half Life, Deus Ex or Dark Messiah of M&M, it's 100% worth exploring this hand crafted world.
To give a rundown on some features:
Free form exploration of a small town, one "tutorial" area pre bridge to the mainland with about 10 or so locations, and the mainland has about 30 ranging from police stations and coffee shops, to hospitals, mines and research centers. Dev states the game has about 10 hrs of exploration however I'm at 11 hrs and still have 4 major locations to explore, so I'd argue about 15-20 if you're really going the distance on exploration.
The gameplay itself is all first person with emphasis on creative kills via traps, ceiling fans (shootable) and even throwing knives/pans/chairs at enemies.
The game itself has some optimization issues but the dev works insane hours to fix things - one such bug with a gun I emailed the dev about last night at 3am CST and by 6am CST they pushed a bug fix for the problem and a few other things.
The dev also 100% thought of multiple sequence breaks in the story (being the game is 100% fully explorable from the start basically) and welcomes you to pile up boxes etc to access certain areas you shouldn't be in yet, often with rewards and resources for your troubles.
Truly a gem, more people need to know about especially if you're an immersive sim fan.
