I’ve been studying mechanical engineering for two years now and have taken a liking to 3D modeling (SolidWorks). There have been countless times when I’ve thought of something I would love to model and print, either for fun or to make my life easier. I’ve heard that limitations with proprietary software might be something I should avoid, especially with the U.S. ramping up regulations. I am in college and money is tight, but this is a purchase I am seriously considering (around the $500 mark). I’m not sure if these printers have specialized uses and I’m in over my head, or if I need to understand exactly what I want out of a printer to make a well-informed decision, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
