Slow and Steady

Decided to just focus on slow and steady. I've been so busy trying to focus on nonstop running. Today I jogged for 15 minutes, walked 3 and jogged another 12 minutes. If it wasn't for the fact I wore a shorter skort and my thighs were rubbing I would have kept going. But honestly, once I stopped moving for a couple minutes I realized my shin was just starting to hurt. So really, I stopped at the right time.

I don't want to be too sore to do the 5k race in 2 weeks. Going to just keep going slower and adding a walk interval in there BEFORE my legs start to feel tired. I know on race day I will push hard.

Now to shower and read a book. Have a great weekend 🫶

New shoes, still slow

My new shoes did not make me run fast 😒 So unfair.

Decided to run the trail today. Probably shouldn't have, but really wanted to. Weather was nice. Got to say hello to a dog (who was nervous about me running behind her, so they stopped so I could pass). I apologized for being a slow runner. When I started heading back, I passed the guy and his dog again and it was nice to hear him say I was doing great.

Despite my joke about not running fast in my new shoes, I feel great about my run. Didn't have hip pain today, but that shin pain was certainly there. Going to just rest until next week to give it a break and then ease back into it. Don't want to stop completely because I have a 5k race on the 25th.

Happy Monday

Had a long weekend of feeling sick. Still not up to 100% but turned on the treadmill. Didn't feel like running in mud puddles today lol.

I really wanted to go longer but I started feeling some hip pain about 20 minutes in. Add that to the shin pain that never goes away and I cut it short. Still met my goal of running (jogging lol) for 30 minutes straight, so I'm happy about that.

Now to shower and relax before driving the goblins around for their own sports practices.
