Clouds Rest hike early June

Hey everyone , I am planning to hike Clouds Rest during the first week of June and wanted to check a few things with anyone who has been there recently.

I’m sure people have probably asked the same questions before already so apologies for the repeated post.

-Is the trail currently open and accessible from the Tenaya Lake/Sunrise trailhead side? I know Tioga Road conditions can affect access and I’ve seen mixed information online. And the All trails apps shows that this is currently closed.

-How narrow does the “spine” section actually feel in real life? On YouTube it looks insanely exposed but I’m wondering if the camera exaggerates it. Is it manageable for someone who’s reasonably fit? For context I did the Mirador Base Las Torres hike last month and was fine but the altitude was not closer to Cloud rest.

-Did anyone experience altitude sickness up there? I read Clouds Rest is around 3,000+ meters above sea level so I’m curious how noticeable the altitude feels during the hike.

Would really appreciate any recent trail updates, conditions, snow info, or personal experiences.

Thanks!

How is living in Rochford?

Hi all,

I’m currently considering buying a house in one of the new developments along Ashingdon Road in Rochford and wanted to hear some genuine opinions from locals.

How safe is the area generally? Are there any specific roads or parts that you’d recommend avoiding?

I walked around the area and into the town square and it seemed pretty nice and relaxed even though there were surprisingly a lot of vehicles on the road.

Also how frequent do buses work ?

Would really appreciate any advice before I commit!

Thanks in advance !

Edit : Could I also understand the best travel options for commuting to London around 2–3 days a week? I checked Greater Anglia fares and the return ticket seems to cost about £35–40 per day which feels slightly expensive. Any suggestions for more cost effective ways to travel would be greatly appreciated

Hi all,

I’m planning a short trip to Nepal and, due to limited time I’ve decided not to do the full Everest Base Camp trek. Instead, I’m looking at the Everest View Hotel hike since it still offers views of Mount Everest and seems more realistic for my schedule and my fitness.

A bit about me and my plan:
- My fitness level is decent, but my experience is mostly limited to day hikes (no multi-day trekking or high altitude trekking experience yet except for visiting Atacama)
- I’m comfortable hiking for several hours a day but I’m aware altitude is a different challenge altogether.

A few questions:
- Is this hike (up to Everest View Hotel via Namche Bazaar) doable on my own with this level of experience or would you recommend hiring a guide given the altitude and terrain?
- Slightly silly question-how do tea houses work? Do you usually need to book them in advance or can you just find a room when you arrive?
- What’s the easiest way to book a stay at Everest View Hotel? I would really like to spend 2 nights here and then descend. I checked Booking.com and it looks fully booked for March/April next year already. Is that typical and are there other reliable ways to book?
- If I do decide to go with a guide,
are there any trusted agencies you’d recommend?

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve done this as a shorter alternative to EBC!

Thanks!
