Some people do not like Claymore ending but I think it's brilliant
Do not get me wrong. I love horror and dark fantasy but Claymore ending is not just a massive trolling of its fanbase. It is so much more.
IMO Claymore is Shund parody just like Scary Movie for example.
Shund (or Schund) is a part of Kitsch that refers to a worthless literature, trash books, a vitiation of art.
There are four types of Schund books. Love novels, crime novels, western novels and ninja novels.
Claymore is a parody combination of two types of Schund, love novels and ninja novels.
When I first saw Claymore anime I realized it right a way that it is a Schund parody.
Opening scene? Loving emotional opening scene with girls flowers and hearts for a dark fantasy anime? WTF?! I was fascinated from the start! I think that Norihiro Yagi is a genius.
A lot of crying scenes and silly schund music which you can notice when you watch anime.
Crazy drama twists where at one point they cry a lot and at the next point emotional displays are very cold and cruel and anyone's head can fly at any point.
--------------
So to sum it up according to my opinion ending where Teresa and Clare altogether become an Angel, the greatest cliché of all is not something to be unexpected or disappointed with.
It is a perfect ending for this type of genre. A really nice sarcasm.
And what do you guys think?
