Crumbl cookie knock-offs, Dubai chocolate cake, Little Debbie Boston Creme pies
Walmart finds for today
Full disclosure: I have never had Crumbl cookies so I have nothing to compare these to. I picked these up solely because they were on clearance. $2.80 something for 2 gigantic cookies. But they sucked! The yellow (lemon) one had the suggestion of lemon flavoring, as if someone zested a lemon 2 generations back on its family tree. The pink one was just frosting flavor. Taste and texture they’re like those generic sugar cookies you can get at any grocery store bakery. I wouldn’t consider even paying the clearance price for these if I saw them again.
The Dubai chocolate cake: again I only picked this up because it was on clearance. Normally closer to $13 for a tiny 6” cake, but half off on clearance. Surprisingly decent! I wouldn’t pay full price though. The cake was soft and a little dense and had good chocolate flavor, the filling was crispy from the kataifi, but there was no discernible pistachio taste. The frosting on top was more of a softer, whipped frosting which was nice, it wasn’t heavy and sickening on an already indulgent cake.
Boston Creme pies: I am from Boston and have had the real deal, OG Boston cream pie from the Omni Parker House so I am a bit of a Boston cream snob 😂
I will allow these to exist. One of the better things Little Debbie has put out lately. The filling isn’t runny like those Tastykake Boston Creme honey buns, it’s more of a thick custard. The chocolate (or whatever it’s made of these days) coating is fine. Overall, it’s like a Boston creme donut from Dunkin if you ate it the next day.
Bonus: background features pickle ketchup which is the nectar of the gods, and those freeze dried Sweetarts which are meh. I don’t get the appeal of freeze drying everything these days
