Advice on making a Louise Carmen trifold// has anyone made one here??

Hi everyone!

Recently I fell in love with the Louis Carmen Journal, but after I saw the price I was like F that LOL. Soooo I took matters into my own hand and I am deciding to create one myself.

I’m very new to making leather goods so I wanted to find some advice on what kind of leather/weight to use? As of right now, my runner up are these two leather panels from leather box.

I’ve seen people use 7-8 oz leather but I’m afraid it won’t fold correctly and it will lift from being too thick. But at the same time I’m unsure if sizing down and getting 4-5 oz leather will make it too floppy and thin.

TLDR; what kind of leather/weight should I use??

I really appreciate any feedback!
