Can you clean and polish your aluminum pontoon tubes while the boat is in the water? I have a polisher/buffer that can go under water and I wanted to clean up the water lines. Any advice on products for this use case?

Can you clean and polish the aluminum tubes while the boat is in the water? I have seen a lot of products that use acid and that doesn't sound environmentally friendly. Any product advice for this use case?
