Collar vs Harness: Dog chokes herself on walks
My 9 months old saluki x cannot wear a collar without choking herself. She walks nicely on a loose leash for about 85% of the time, until she sees a blowing leaf or a cat and lunges, and chokes herself so bad. We’ve used Martingale collars specifically for sighthounds of course, but it doesn’t help.
Right now she’s wearing a harness for all walks, but I don’t really like it as I have more control when she’s on a collar.
Any tips? I know that I need to keep up with the training of course, but with a saluki you can never get the type of discipline that prevents sudden jumps or lunges.
