This game is a huge victim of gatekeeping

People say they don't like Epic Yarn because it's easy, when in reality, Kirby games are incredibly easy across the board. To beat Return To Dreamland, you just gotta try, no skill required. This isn't a criticism, it's fine for a game to be easy, but it makes the criticism pretty disingenuous when it's pointed toward Epic Yarn

The goal is to make it to the end with the most money possible, and you lose it when you get hit. In other words, getting hit is just as consequencial as other Kirby games, just taking more of a Shovel Knight/Odyssey approach

This game came out in the Wii era, which was about when the life-system was beginning to lose relevance in the games industry. Retro gamers were really upset at the time, complaining that any game with infinite lives was too easy, but it's mostly petered out nowadays. I interpret the "Epic Yarn is too easy" narrative to have come from that crowd specifically

I appreciate that the characters never break the forth wall

So much of the comedy in this show is based on how earnestly the characters try to make sense of the world around them, even though the audience understands that the world is illogical, so they're wasting their time thinking about it

I feel like if Charlie said at some point "This episode was stupid", then the jig would be up, like the comedy would stop working. As soon as the characters become aware that they're within a TV show, jokes like the Renaissance Men would stop being funny, because the audience would respond with "Why are they talking so much? They know its just nonsense"
