
This game is a huge victim of gatekeeping
People say they don't like Epic Yarn because it's easy, when in reality, Kirby games are incredibly easy across the board. To beat Return To Dreamland, you just gotta try, no skill required. This isn't a criticism, it's fine for a game to be easy, but it makes the criticism pretty disingenuous when it's pointed toward Epic Yarn
The goal is to make it to the end with the most money possible, and you lose it when you get hit. In other words, getting hit is just as consequencial as other Kirby games, just taking more of a Shovel Knight/Odyssey approach
This game came out in the Wii era, which was about when the life-system was beginning to lose relevance in the games industry. Retro gamers were really upset at the time, complaining that any game with infinite lives was too easy, but it's mostly petered out nowadays. I interpret the "Epic Yarn is too easy" narrative to have come from that crowd specifically
