People discussing the potential for a Remake of FF1 and FF3. But in my opinion I’d want a remake of FF5.

Don't get me wrong, I would still be happy if they announced a remake for FF1 or FF3. But from an artistic perspective, 1 and 3 are perfectly fine games that still hold up and are intuitive to control, even for a modern player. (I only played FF1 for the first time a year ago, and that was also my first ever fixed camera game. I was able to learn the controls pretty fast.) To me who views all these games as works of art, remaking FF5 makes a whole lot more sense.

Fatal Frame 5 is the most devisive game by far with plenty of weak points. And if I recall correctly, Shibata himself once expressed a desire to want to redo the story of FF5. (I don’t have a source for that. It’s just something I remember hearing. If anyone knows what I’m talking about and can provide a link, I would be very appreciative.)

Now from a commercial perspective, does a remake of FF5 make any sense? Unfortunately no… I recognize that. The remaster only came out five years ago. But as someone who actually likes FF5 a lot and wants to see more people like it too, I think the remaster did more damage to its general reputation than help. The remaster gave us all the infamous FF5 jiggle; it was not like that in the original Wii U version.

That’s why I’m so frustrated with the FF5 remaster… But anyway, I can still hope and pray for a perfect world where Shibata gets his chance to do a revision of FF5.
