Overcrowded tank

This is kind of a long story but like bear with me. So my family has had a tank sense I can remember. Weve had all kinds of fish but or instead of getting minnows we got goldfish for our now dead African Chilid to eat (My parents are not very smart when it comes to fish). The chilid died but the goldfish didn’t and our tank broke. They were put in like the WORST possible condition a small tank the water was super brown. We got a new tank but it can’t handle the bio load (I think that’s what it’s called of all the fish) 3 fancy’s 4 commons in 55 gallons. I recently started to take over for the fish and saw how overcrowded it really was. The nitrates are extremely high nitrites recently had a spike Kh and ph was low but I raised it. I lowkey don’t know what to do because I know these fish cannot be healthy or happy in their environment if they constantly need to go up for air. Heeelelelp.
