Help with where to visit

My husband and I typically vacation on Maui in a little beach area of Honowakai, but my hubby is thinking maybe we should try the keys- I am overwhelmed with trying somewhere new. We are in our 40's and not partiers, so no Key West. We enjoy snorkeling and sitting on a beach and taking a dip in the ocean.

From what I have figured out (I think), we would probably be best to stay on Ismaraldo (that spelling is horrible!) or Marathon. Does that sound right? I need some guidence... and we only have 5 days to spend.

We would also be going in the beginning of October. I know it is hurricane season, but besides that- what is the weather like?

thank you in advance.

RTH Timing

I am day dreaming about a short trip that may or not happen in October. my husband and I have been to maui 3 times. We have not done the road to Hana.

We are talking about taking the a short 5 day trip and would like to do the road to Hana, with a night stay the first night we are in.

We would land about 10 and hopefully be in the rental car by 11 (we won't have checked luggage), would gas up if needed and get some snacks and take off. We pack in single backpacks so we can bring them with us when we stop.

Do what we can for the road to hana, hoping hoping twin falls, and the rainbow trees and maybe a 3-6 reservation for black sand beach (i cam not spell the actual name correctly), then check into a hotel in Hana and grab dinner and sleep.

The next morning we would leave bright and early and check out, try to catch the sunrise koki beach, head to the pipiwai trail to the bamboo forest and head back hitting anywhere we wanted to see and missed.

Anyone done something like this? The other 3 days will be spent sitting at the beach in West Maui.
