Naam tamilar

Since it’s election season, I’ve been seeing a lot of canvassing from different parties across my area. Today I happened to come across a Naam Tamilar rally, and I noticed something interesting — along with Seeman, there were also images of Prabhakaran being displayed prominently.

I can understand the emotional and historical angle of supporting the Sri Lankan Tamil cause. It’s something that resonates deeply with many Tamils. But I’m curious — how is Prabhakaran or the Sri Lankan Tamil issue directly relevant to present-day Tamil Nadu politics?

Not trying to criticize, just genuinely trying to understand the connection here. Is it more about identity politics, emotional appeal, or is there a current political relevance that I’m missing?

Would love to hear different perspectives on this.
