I apologize in advance if this is a basic question, but I have never owned or used apple products before so I don't have any idea how their stuff works.

I got a shattered iPhone 12 Pro Max (it's either a 12PM or 13PM, not too sure which) from my job. Part of what I do involves cleaning out trade ins for a car dealership. If we find any belongings, especially valuable items, we keep them for a few weeks in case the customer realizes they left something and wants their items back. If there's a way to contact them, we do that. Anyway, a few months ago I found the iPhone wedged under the seat of a trade in. The front and back are shattered and the whole frame is a little bent, so it probably got crushed by the seat. It wouldn't turn on and there was no contact info for the previous owner, so I left it in the lost and found and forgot about it. I was cleaning the box out yesterday and the phone was still there, so obviously nobody wants it. The phone shows a flashing logo and then a dead battery icon when placed on a wireless charger, but won't turn on. (I don't have a lightning cable but will borrow one and try later). I want to try and repair it, but in researching what to do I heard that Lost Mode might have locked the phone. Which seems like it will essentially make the phone useless if it's been turned on, with no way to get rid of it. So here's my question:

Is there a way to factory reset the phone, so I can use it if I replace the screen? Would Apple support reset the phone for me, even though I didn't purchase the phone? Or, if there is some way to find the owners phone number from the phone, could I contact them and send the broken phone to them if they want it?

Just wanted to share my car to show it off and see what the community thinks. This is my 2010 Toyota Venza 2.7 AWD (sometimes called Vanessa or Vee). And yes, though she doesn't at all look it, like the title implies, she's got a quarter million miles on the clock (actually more, she's sitting at 264k right now and is still my daily). Like Tom Cruise, she just doesn't age. She's been well cared for, but not babied by any means, she was a family hauler for 14 years before becoming my "hand me down" car. She's been all across the country, up and down canyons, through deserts, rainstorms, snowstorms, severe oil leaks, a metal plate on the road destroying a door sill, and even mild off-roading. Lately she gets more pampering than she used to since I work at a dealership and get free use of our wash bays. Last summer I took two days and polished her up and put on a ceramic clear coat, and that red really shines.

She's got a little more wear up close and a lot of rock chips but nothing looks anywhere close to 260k miles. The interior still looks nearly brand new. Just wanted to share how proud I am of this car that might seem boring to anyone else. I don't see too many of these Venzas anymore, but I love mine. It's spacious, comfortable, more capable than it has any right being, and is just so easy and nice to drive, even all these years later. It really is an amazingly built car. It's a shame they quit making it.
