I finished BCA and I’ve basically been in nonstop study mode for years now — 10th boards, 12th boards, entrance stress, college, placements, all of it. I’m honestly burned out from academics at this point. It’s not that I hate tech or learning, I’m just exhausted from the constant cycle of studying for exams and degrees.

Right now I’m more interested in getting into junior sysadmin kind of roles, building actual hands-on experience, learning Linux, networking, cloud stuff, etc. I already have some projects around reverse proxies, Linux setups, Docker, troubleshooting labs, things like that.

The thing is, part of me feels like if I don’t do a master’s right now I’ll “fall behind,” especially seeing everyone else continue studying. Another part of me feels like forcing myself into another degree while burned out is a terrible idea.

I’ve been thinking maybe:

  • get a job first
  • gain 1–2 years of experience
  • maybe do an online degree later if needed

Has anyone here taken that route in IT? Did working first help, or did you regret not doing your master’s immediately?

Hey,

I’m trying to understand how admissions for the MCA program at Manipal actually work.

Since it seems to be primarily CGPA-based, I had a few questions:

  • What’s the usual cutoff CGPA for MCA admissions?
  • Does the cutoff vary a lot year to year?
  • Do they go lower in later rounds or after waitlist movement?
  • Roughly how competitive is the applicant pool?
