Hi, I hope this is an okay place to ask for advice!

I’m aware people do not get listened to easily when asking for a hysto - I think I have perfectly reasonable justification for wanting one (HEAVY periods that make me anaemic, pain that only codeine touches, normally 9 or 10 days, never want kids) but I was wondering if anyone had anything they said that actually got the doctor to listen instead of just suggesting another contraceptive (I’ve been on 4 kinds and all gave me bad side effects).

Another hurdle I have which I’m fairly hopeful my doctor will be okay with, is I’m under the trans umbrella so I’m worried it’s going to come across like I’m trying to get gender affirming care through the NHS by deception. I have no issues with gender dysphoria surrounding having a uterus and I just don’t want to be in excruciating pain for a third of each month.

Thank you for listening!
