Player Looks: Accessories, anyone? Overalls AND finger-less gloves AND bandana AND sandals AND armlets AND tattoos AND FANNY PACK!? I mean, he looks pretty fly, and has the skills to back it up.

Player Stats Outlook: A true defender, this one. Elite AT which fades away sort right as his BL turns on. His other stats are quite lack-luster, but what else do you really need in a defender?

HP: Not much to note. Starts a bit low and growth increases as he levels up. Does not get to max HP by lvl 99.

SP: 59 all the way. The very slightest below median he can get.

EN: He is really not good at this. He is in the bottom quartile until his growth picks up around lvl 70, where he can start boasting about being in the bottom half instead. Hopefully enough to tank a tackle from a forward once in a while.

AT: Zalitz is an early powerhouse in AT. He is the very best in the league from lvl 1-15, and remains top 5 through lvl 25. His growth in this stat is really bad, however, so he ends up at 34 at lvl 99, which is really quite bad if you want a true tackler. I would say it stays relevant through maybe lvl 60.

PA: Starts quite slow, and picks up late to end up at 60 at lvl 99. It really is middle of the road the entire time. Not bad, not great. (Has exactly the same PA growth as Mep).

BL: This is where Zalitz really shines, once is AT starts to fade. In the top half of all players from lvl 1, and pulls away into the top quartile around lvl 40. By lvl 70 he is top 5 all the way to lvl 99. A really, really good blocker.

SH: Another terrible shooter. Starts with 2nd worst SH stat and ends up at 22 with linear growth. Not ideal.

CA: Interestingly, his CA is exactly 2 less than his SH at all times. So even worse goalie than he is forward.

Tech Outlook: His tech tree is sort of perfect for him. You may wish he had Golden Arm or Tackle Slip 2, but he really has everything else you could hope for.

Shot Techs: Wither Shot 1 is all he gets access to.

Passing Techs: Venom Pass 1-2, Wither Pass 1. Not a lot, but enough to boost his PA if need be.

Tackle Techs: Zalitz has access to all tackles except for Drain Tackle 2 (Venom/Nap/Wither/Drain). This is really nice as a defender, and as his elite AT falls away, some of these can extend the life of his AT superiority. Also STARTS with all three lvl 1 Tackle Techs.

Anti-Effect Techs: All Anti-Effect Techs except for Anti-Nap 2.

Misc Techs: Starts with Elite Defense, perfect for him. The only player to start with Hi-Risk, which I have not really played with, but double XP has to be nice. Also has Tackle Slip 1, Brawler, Pile Venom/Wither, Regen, Gamble.

Suggested Position: Defender. If you do not utilize SH or Shot Techs from your MF, he could be fine as a very defensive MF. But he is really tailor made to be a defender.

IN SUMMARY: A very solid defender. One of the best pure defenders, really from lvl 1-99. You could look elsewhere if you need a pure tackler for all levels, or a pure blocker for all levels, I suppose. But I think he has a great mix. Some people prefer high BL at later levels to high AT, and he is set up for that perfectly. I would rate him as S->A->S as he lvls from 1->50->99. I almost did not put him as an S, as he is sort of a 1-trick pony, but as a defender, he just really does excel. If you need versatility, look elsewhere, but Zalitz will be here defending anyway.

Player Looks: This guy is edgy. A skull mask and samurai armor is no doubt a cool look. But like, whoa man, we are trying to play Blitzball here!

Player Stat Outlook: Another sort of enigma, whose stats change a fair amount as he levels up. Starting out, he has the best AT of anyone else, the worst shooting of anyone, and is the 3rd best goalie until lvl 20. Like Wedge, he has the stats to do things, but his strength may change on his way to lvl 99.

HP: At lvl 5, he has the 2nd worst HP of anyone, but is top 5 by lvl 70 and capped out at lvl 99.

SP: Starts above average and rises slowly. Never gets elite SP, but fast enough to be noticeable against median 60 SP players.

EN: Look at that EN curve! By lvl 10 is top 5, and remains all the way through lvl 50. Growth slows to a crawl and at lvl 70 caps at 49 and begins to decrease, ending up at 41 at lvl 99. Really unusual.

AT: Starts at the league highest 15 at lvl 1. He then doesn't get a single stat raise until lvl 20! It then starts an exponential curve starting real slow, and picking up speed at later levels. At lvl 99 it is 44. His super high starting AT has him sort of slowly losing his AT advantage until he is mediocre in mid levels, and as the late level growth picks up, remains mediocre/good to the end.

PA: PA starts average, and growth increases as he levels up. His stat stays around half of what the elite passers have, and by lvl 35, his increasing growth has him starting to close the gap. By lvl 60 and beyond, he is just outside of the top 5, and I would consider him an elite passer all the way to lvl 99.

BL: Very similar trajectory as his PA stat. Starts low, with slow growth, and the growth increases as he levels, and he ends up just outside of top five from lvl 60-99.

SH: Terrible shooter. Starts at league worst 1, and grows linearly to 20 by lvl 99.

CA: Starts as the 3rd best goalie, actually, and remains top 3 through lvl 15. He continues to grow reliably all the way to lvl 99, ending at 41 CA (6th best). One of the few goalies who can actually do things in the sphere as well as being a solid goalie.

Tech Outlook: A good mix tailored toward tackling. No shooting support, but that is fine with his low SH. Decent Passing support. He has the two main goalie Techs. His only Tech weakness is Anti-Effect Techs, as he has none. That would be his main argument against him becoming a goalie, I think.

Shot Techs: Volley Shot 1. That's it. Luckily this goes along with his terrible SH stat. A good place for him to have a Tech blind spot.

Passing Techs: Venom Pass 1-3, Nap Pass 1-2, Wither Pass 1. A decent mix, skewed toward Venom.

Tackle Techs: He has access to all tackle techs, 1-3 (Venom/Nap/Wither/Drain). He is the sole owner of Venom Tackle 2 (Starts with it and no one else does), and it behooves you to pick him up for a game or two if you need Venom Tackle 2 for any of your other players Key Techs.

Anti-Effect Techs: None. Not the end of the world, but I see this a fairly large negative for his prospects as net-minder.

Misc Effects: Tackle Slip 1, Spin Ball, Elite Defense, Brawler, Pile Venom, Pile Wither, Regen, Hi-Risk, Golden Arm, Grip Gloves, Super Goalie. No Good Morning! or Gamble.

Suggested Position: Defenseman or Goalie. He would be fine as a defensive MF, but with such abysmal SH, he will never be able to jump in and score OR even inflict status effects on the opposing catcher. I like him as a pure Defense player the most. He really is a decent Goalie, but I prefer my goalies to have some Anti-Effect Tech support.

IN SUMMARY: I like Kyou. I tend to like any player who is not simple to analyze. A project or an enigma, but with clear positive aspects to try an highlight. With his low SH and EN that decreases at higher levels, Kyou is definitely defensively minded. Whether in the sphere or in the net, he has the stats and Techs to succeed. His mid levels is where his unique blend of stats suffers the most (His AT falls off as his BL starts picking up). I think I would rank him a A->B->A as he levels up from 1->50->99.

90 8439 60 61 57 81 45 49 19
99 9999 60 69 66 90 51 56 20

Player Looks: Kiyuri sort of looks like she is trying to be a pirate? But like with mom vibes rather than actually having any pirate vibes. She is on a boat, so perhaps I do not give her enough credit.

Player Stat Outlook: Kiyuri has consistent stat growth in all stats. They are almost linear, but only slightly exponential. As she levels up, she sort of morphs from a "master of none" into a solid "jack-of-all trades."

HP: Kiyuri is in the bottom 3 in HP through lvl 40. It then grows much faster and actually ends at max HP at lvl 99.

SP: 60 SP at all times. She is at the league median.

EN: Her EN consistently stays just above half of the very best players. This ends up being a bit below average and she could have a tough time tanking tackles from multiple or skilled tacklers. She able to hold her own more and more as she levels past 60, as her EN keeps growing consistently all the way to lvl 99.

AT: AT ends up being one of Kiyuri's top stats. The growth trajectory starts her low, and keeps her in the middle of the pack for most of her development, however. It is not until around lvl 70 where she really gains on the AT leaders and leaps into the top 5 by lvl 80.

PA: Kiyuri's highest stat. She does not reach the highest echelons of PA until lvl 60 or so, but her PA remains useful the whole way.

BL: Staying in single digits all the way to lvl 25, blocking is not Kiyuri's strong suit early on. It does consistently grow, ending up at 51 at lvl 99. It is above what many forwards have, so it will be a factor, but she is simply not an elite blocker. 1 more point to her versatility.

SH: Similar to other stats, she starts low, and consistently grows. It starts at league worst 1 and by lvl 50 is still only 24. I see her lobbing some Nap Shots or Wither Shots maybe, but not really contributing to scoring. It does grow all the way to 56 by lvl 99, so she again gains more utility, the more she levels.

CA: Grows from 1-20, 1 stat gain each 5 lvls. There are 24 players with this exact stat gain, including Tidus. Tidus is not a Goalie, and neither is Kiyuri.

Tech Outlook: A good mix. She can learn 35 of the 57 learnable Techs. Her stat strength is PA, and she has plenty of Passing Techs. Her weak SH does have some Shot Tech support. No Tackle Slip. Pile Venom without access to any Venom Tackles or Venom Shots is a missed opportunity, but even together is arguably not worth it. But she has plenty of Techs to choose from to increase her utility. Also, her Key Techs can be troublesome to Tech Copy for some without knowing a few tricks. So keep that in mind if you plan to fill out her Tech tree.

Shot Techs: Sphere/Invisible, No Venom Shots, Nap Shot 1-2, Wither Shot 1-3, Volley Shot 1-3. Like I said above, the Nap and Wither shots can add some utility, but I do not see you using Volley Shots and making her a forward.

Passing Techs: Venom Pass 1-2, Nap Pass 1-2, Wither Pass 1-3. This is where she can shine, as PA is her best stat. No Nap Pass 3, but with her low HP for much of her development, it would likely be hard to use anyway.

Tackle Techs: No Venom Tackles, Nap Tackle 1, Wither Tackle 1-2, Drain Tackle 1-2. Drain Tackle is another way to counter her low HP, if you often find your HP too low.

Anti-Effect Techs: Anti-Venom 1, Anti-Nap 1, Anti-Wither 1-2, Anti-Drain 2. She starts with Anti-Wither 1 and 2.

Misc Techs: Spin Ball, Elite Defense, Brawler, Pile Venom, Good Morning!, Golden Arm, Super Goalie. I like Elite Defense and perhaps Golden Arm for Kiyuri.

Suggested Position: I see Kiyuri as a MF. Her high passing makes her good at being the first person to touch the ball. She can then dish it all over the sphere as needed, perhaps even causing status effects with her passing Tech access. In addition, her defensive stats are useful, but ideally she is joining in to scrums with other teammates, as she is not elite in either AT or BL. She could be fine as a defender if needed, but there are better defenders available. I do not see her as a true forward or Catcher.

IN SUMMARY: I really like Kiyuri's skillset, but she is a bit of a project if you are starting at lvl 1 with her. Like a raw rookie with high potential, she needs some time to develop. The more investment, the more payoff for her. At lvl 99, few other players have her versatility, as she has useful stats in all but CA by then. I would rank her C->A->S as you level her from 1->50->99

99 9988 66 68 43 68 31 17 62

Player Stat Outlook: Wedge is truly unusual in his stat growth. At different points of his development, he has top 3 SH, top 3 AT, top 5 EN, and top 3 CA, of all things. He does not consistently fit any one role on a team. Any team owners wanting to utilize Wedge will have to assess his stats as he levels up and re-assign his position as needed.

HP: I never know what to say about HP, but I will say this. Wedge starts with Regen. With his funky stats, you may end up using more lvl 3 techs to make up for a stat shortfall, and Regen can offset those HP using Techs if you really need it.

SP: Median SP is 60. Wedge's SP is 65, and goes to 66 at lvl 50. Above average, but only just so.

EN: EN is the one stat Wedge consistently has a fair amount of. At lvl 1, it is a little low, but its growth is quite high early, and he is high mid range by lvl 10. By lvl 20 he is top 3, and remains so until lvl 40. The growth tapers off, but his stat remains serviceable to the very end, if you do not make him a Goalie.

AT: Similar to EN, it is less than half of the top AT at lvl 1, but grows quickly. At lvl 10 he is top 3. He stays top 3 until lvl 45. Again, like his EN, the growth slows, but the stat remains usable all the way to lvl 99.

PA: He and Wedge sport the very worst PA stat from lvl 1-45. It is legendarily bad and grows so slowly for so long. From lvl 50, it grows exponentially to end at 68 by lvl 99. His passing techs are limited, so it is a hard weakness to cover up. Hopefully his high EN will let you always pass without any defenders intercepting it. (As a side note, I really like having a low PA person when I am trying to Tech Copy Volley Shots).

BL: His BL is slightly above average through lvl 50 or so. It has a similar growth PATTERN as his EN and AT (Starts low, grows quickly at early levels, but levels off for the rest of his development), but simply does not rise as high. So he is never top 5 at BL. After lvl 50, BL stays below or at 30/31 until lvl 99, really become below average.

SH: At lvl 1, Wedge has the highest SH of any player at 17. Unfortunately, it never grows above 22, and after lvl 50 actually starts DECREASING, ending back at 17 by lvl 99. You can use his early window to dominate as a forward, and carry that as long as you can, but without that growth, it becomes hard to utilize his SH stat at Mid, and certainly High levels.

CA: Another interesting stat for Wedge, he starts as a horrendous Catcher with a CA of 2 (Nimrook starts at 18). and stays below 10 in the stat through lvl 30. by lvl 50, he is still only 18 in CA (Nimrook is 35). At lvl 60, most Goal Keeper players have a CA over 30, and Wedge is at 24. At 70, his 32 CA could work, and by 80, he is top 5. At 90 he is top 3, and 99 he has the 2nd highest CA at 62.

Tech Outlook: Like his stats, Wedge has a Tech Tree that does not always fit any one role, but instead is spread in way that will have you picking and choosing to best fit the current role he is in. He can learn 35 of the 57 generally available Techs (Not counting Jecht Shots and Aurochs Spirit).

Shot Techs: Wedge has access to ALL the shot techs. Sphere Shot, Invisible Shot, Venom Shot 1-3, Nap Shot 1-3, Wither Shot 1-3, Volley Shot 1-3. His SH really falls off as he levels up, so most of this feels like a waste to me.

Passing Techs: Nap Pass 3, Wither Pass 1. These are the only pass techs he gets. He will likely need to use them, as his passing stat is among the lowest for most of his development.

Tackle Techs: Venom Tackle 1-2, Nap Tackle 1, Wither Tackle 1-2, No Drain Tackle. He does not have access to any Tackle 3 techs.

Anti-Effect Techs: Anti-Venom 1-2, Anti-Nap, Anti-Wither, Anti-Drain. lvl 1 techs are better than none, I suppose. A blow to his Net-Minding tech support.

Misc Techs: Tackle Slip, Spin Ball, Elite Defense, Brawler, Pile Venom, Pile Wither, Regen, Hi-Risk, Golden Arm. At lvl 99, he has the 2nd highest CA stat. I would have liked to see him with Super Goalie and Grip Gloves, but alas. His mid levels, he can benefit from a lot of these.

Suggested Position: Start him as a forward, to use his best in class SH. When that falls off, move him to defense to utilize his elite AT. If you go all the way past lvl 80, you can try him as your Goalie. I tend to value PA as a MF, so I do not see him thriving there, but his EN and AT could make it work. You could always lob Nap Shot 3's from MF until one of them works, I suppose.

IN SUMMARY: The strategic depth of Blitzball is quite shallow when compared to actual sports like Basketball or Hockey. In professional sports, a versatile player who can play many positions is an asset to a team. An aging player who moves from Cornerback to Safety or an Offensive Defenseman who has a special place on a Power Play unit are interesting and unique pieces to the puzzle a GM would have to assemble in order to compile a championship team. I view Wedge as a fun project. He can be a positive part of your team at any level. If you liked Moneyball, Wedge might be for you. I would grade him S->A->A as you level him from 1-99, but you can probably lower each of those grades to A->B->B to counteract my nostalgic love for Wedge I have had since first being aware of him in FF6.

90 9,700 96 56 48 44 44 39 17
99 9,999 99 59 54 44 45 42 20

Player Stat Outlook: Brother is an early level powerhouse, possessing some of the highest stats of any player between lvl 1 and lvl 30. If your goal is lvl 99, he eventually gets out shined by some other players, but he remains a solid addition to any team. Speed can really hide a lot of other weaknesses in Blitzball.

HP: HP rarely matters, but his starting HP is quite low. Especially when he starts with Wither Shot 2. You have to gain a lvl or two before you can even use it. pretty quickly, though, this stat stops being an issue and he is fine like every other player.

SP: Starting at 75 and capping out at 99, he is tied for the fastest player at level 1, and remains top 5 all the way to lvl 99.

EN: Ranges from 8 - 59, fairly which is good, not great territory.

AT: Starts relatively low at 6, and grows steadily to 54 at lvl 99.

PA: His Passing remains top 3 through level 25.

BL: He is 1st in blocking until level 30.

SH: lvl 1 shooting is 14, tied for 2nd with Vilucha, where highest is 17 (Wedge). The problem for Brother, is that his shooting growth is pretty abysmal. At higher levels, shooting is Brother's lowest stat besides Catching.

CA: Brother is not a net-minder, and he has a terrible 1 in catching until lvl 25, where it jumps to 2. Don't bother.

Tech Outlook: Brother has a Medium/Large tech tree, with plenty of diversity.

Shot Techs: Brother starts with Wither Shot 2, and can only learn Wither Shot, Sphere Shot, and Invisible Shot, as well as all three Volley Shots. You will probably end up using Wither Shot 2 or Sphere Shot, and skip the rest.

Passing Techs: Venom 1-3, Nap 1-2, and Wither 1.

Tackle Techs: Access to all tackle techs except Nap Tackle 3. This is a nice offset to his mediocre AT stat, and a good companion to his high BL stat.

Anti-Effect Techs: Anti-Venom 1-2, Anti-Nap 1, Anti-Wither 1, no Anti-Drain.

Misc Techs: He has access to all of the misc techs, and while he likely won't use them all, it only adds to his versatility.

Suggested Position: MF. I tend to value PA and defensive stats in my Mid-fielder, with SP, EN, and SH as 2nd tier. Brother may struggle as a true forward due do his middling SH as he levels up. He would be fine as a defender, but his speed and versatility really makes him shine in the middle where he can be a sort of jack-of all trades.

IN SUMMARY: Brother is a huge asset to your team right away due to his exceptional speed and high starting stats, and varied tech tree. His only real weakness is poor stat growth, and this is only an issue if you level well past lvl 50, which is not needed to get all achievements and celestial weapons. I rate him as an S->A->C from lvl 1->50->99.
