Let’s get together & make Amazon better

I posted this last week, but I wasn’t sure it got much visibility. I'm going to share one more time because I think it’s important.

I truly believe it’s a critical time for tech workers to get together and DO SOMETHING about what’s going on in the world. The tech industry is at the center of it all: our CEOs are cozying up to the authoritarian administration, our jobs seem to have an endless cycle of layoffs, and our cloud products are going to have a massive impact on the world via AI and data center expansions.

Right now, the place I know to plug in is joining this meetup this Saturday, April 25th. AECJ is planning to share its theory for what we can do at this moment, please join us!

I have a lot of questions: We’re being pushed to use AI, and maybe in some cases it makes us more productive, but what’s the real benefit for us? Is this going to make us work any less hours or with less surveillance? Is it going to make our world outside of work better? I’m worried the current answer to these questions is negative. And while making a change feels pretty uncertain and difficult, I certainly think we have to try.

What do you all think? What’s giving you some hope or a way to take action these days?

(Thanks for listening, sorry to double post but I really hope someone gets a new way to make a difference out of this)
