Pipedrumming sticks advice needed

Im wondering if there are pipedrummers with experience in using different built drumsticks.

At the moment Im playing with the VicFirth KP2 maple and the Promark Stephan Creighton maple.

Now Im looking for new sticks, and one of my previous post I asked people to give me some recommendations.
The new Andante Stephan Creighton 2’s, Los Cabos Pipeband sticks, etc.

-Soo thats one question, I would like to know what sticks you like and what your experience is with different pipedrumming sticks?

-Second question is, What do you think of using pipedrumming sticks made out of Hornbeam/ Maple/ Hickory/ Oak?

I just need something new and because of all the replies I received on other posts, I think there is a new chapter opening at the moment to improve.

Snare solo’s like the ‘Smoove’

Im practicing different things while training, using different sticks, different pads, etc.
And now looking for the ‘Smoove’ kinda snare solo’s, to get more comfortable with stick tricks.

I hope you guys can help me find out new things to play, solos and rudiments for playing the drumcorps like the Smoove but also interested at pipeband kinda exercises/ jigs.

Does anyone have experience with these sticks for playing drumline kinda stuff.
Or other recommendations to play with on high tension drums?

In my previous post I asked for tips on new pipeband sticks, then there is a reason to buy new drumcorps sticks ( also high tension drum ) as well…I guess :)

Im currently playing Creightons’ in a pipeband, and KP2s’ for playing the practice pad. I very like them both.
And for me, I dont use ‘dirty’ sticks that I use outdoor on my clean practice pad, and vice versa.

Now my high tension is almost ready, I really want new pipeband sticks.
Can you recommend me some new sticks? Im currious about those shown above ( also the band is asking for ).

Hi guys,

In the beginning of the week, I posted my Premier HTS ( old one ).

And really I got some nice replies about it.

Previous month I was thinking of buying a new snare.

For me playing the snare is for practicing rudiments and marches/ jigs, for pipeband drumming and drumline like.

Who can give me any advice? Brand, heads, tension rods, etc.

Let me know your setup, share a passion.

Who can give me any advice about choosing the right practice pad?

Im currently playing on a Meinl MPP-6 and a Tama TSP9. And they both are well made by its manufacturer. I also have the Remo 10" that I use to bring with me to friends and practice some stick tricks.

The Meinl pad I like to play with my pipedrumming sticks, and the Tama pad with marching sticks to chop my rudiments and marches.

Im looking for something like the picture shows you, a nice looking pad with a small rim on it.

Does anyone have any advice? Share a passion!

Im wondering what you guys can learn me about your sticks.

For drumline and pad work I prefer to use the Ralph Hardimons from Vic Firth.

And for pipedrumming the KP2 Vic Firths.

My new best options for small corps are the Promark 2B rebounds instead of the standard 5a because of its weight and feeling.

Let me know, share a passion.

Hi there,

My Reddit name is Sticks-Man, in real life they call me Rick.

I created this community, Apr 2026, to get more in touch with musicians around the world playing percussion, whatever it is that you’re playing. ( DCI, pipebands, Bugle Corps, etc. )

The idea came after I did a lot of research about rudiments for example, and thought we should make a nice and open community with everyday talk about percussion, more then there already is.

So lets share a passion!

Share talks, ideas, pictures, rudiments, cadences, sheets and many more.
