I recently received my first roster for my new job nursing in an Emergency Department in Melbourne, Vic. I have noticed 7 short changes (finishing 2230 and starting work again at 0800 the next morning) in my first month and a half of shifts.

- Is it common in Victoria to have little downtime between shifts?

- Is there any penal rates paid for the morning shift?

- Do hospitals offer beds for staff to stay between these shifts?
