Why do people glaze living in Japan but not scandinavian countries?

As the title says why do people think japan is such a nice place to live and want to move there when the work culture in Japan is so much more brutal than western countries. One of my friends said that the reason japan is better is that the people are nicer which i dont think is true im not saying they are meaner or anythjng like that just that being polite doesnt mean they are kinder or better. There is also a saying in Japan 出る杭は打たれる which means "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down" which i generally think is a bad thing for people and individuality.

Also there are way nicer countries to live in than japan that give a higher quality of life that deserve just as much or more glaze in quality of life like the Scandinavian countries. Which have a higher quality of life, better labour laws and unions so you have a better work life balance, great healthcare, an amazing wellfare system.

Btw im not trying to be racist im just trying to point out the difference in quality of life and how one gets significantly more attention
