Am I being Scammed/Set Up?
Hey everyone — first time posting here, so I’m not totally sure if this is the right subreddit, but I could really use some advice.
I’m 21 and about to graduate college at the beginning of May, so I’m deep in the job-hunting process right now.
I applied on Indeed for an “Entry Level Event Assistant” position listed under a company called Live Free. A couple of hours after applying, I received a message about the role but the message came from a completely different company called Relentless Marketing.
Naturally, I started doing some research. I honestly couldn’t find much information about Relentless Marketing besides a very poorly designed website. I also checked LinkedIn and couldn’t find a single person who currently works or has ever worked at this company, which immediately raised some red flags for me.
I had an initial Zoom call with them this morning that was supposed to go over basic information and see if I’d be a good fit. The meeting was just me and one woman, and oddly enough, the name displayed on her Zoom account wasn’t even hers, it was supposedly the CEO’s name (according to their website)
She asked me very basic questions about who I am and why I applied, and after that she launched into what felt like a long rant filled with buzzwords, vague numbers, and name-dropping big companies like Apple and T-Mobile without really explaining what the job actually involves. (Meanwhile, this was an event assistant position, not anything sales related)
At this point, I’m almost positive something feels off or potentially scam-like, but I wanted to see if anyone here has heard of this company or experienced something similar.
They scheduled me for another call tomorrow morning for what they’re calling a “formal interview,” and honestly the whole situation feels questionable. Would you go through with the second interview, or does this sound like something I should avoid altogether?
I call complete bullshit but just want to know what others think. Thanks!
