Macbook Neo?
So I have seen a couple of people that have ran test on the new Neo with lightroom but they have been pretty quick and havent seen much from people that have used it for a month or two. I have a 2020 Macbook Pro and Lightroom and Lightroom classic kind of run on it but it takes ~1hr to do basic stuff like lens correction and maybe a few other minor edits so I have been having to take around my 17in gaming laptop and lugging that thing around is getting old.
For a bit of context of what I do, me and the wife travel around with a hot air balloon team all summer and do a lot of photography of that. There are a few week + long events we go to and live out of our small camper (think an XL teardrop) during that time, so using a gaming laptop has a few problems with it. some of those issue are it is very large, puts off a lot of heat in an already hot environment and battery life is sucks. I dont do any heavy editing while on the road, but I do like to go though and tag photos for when I get home and maybe make a few small edits so I can send the pictures to people for them to share out on social media and such. Like mentioned above I have a 2020 Mac book that my old employer bought me back in 2020, so they kind of cheaped out on it it is an 15 with 8GB of ram and it pretty much will not run lightroom anymore. I have been looking at finding something better since last summer and was thinking about getting an iPad but now that the Neo is out I think that might be better than the iPad and it is cheaper too and since this will be a computer that only gets used for 4ish months I dont really want to spend a ton of it.
So my question is will the Neo work better than a 2020 MBP for LR and LRC?
