Hi all,

I was wondering if there is anywhere to find the general rules that have to be adhered to when building a new home in a rural area.

My parents have a large plot of land that their home is built on and we are looking into if it is possible to section off around 0.75 acres in between my parents house and the neighbours house and see if I could get planning to build a small home there.

A quick search online seems to show I need a certain size for a septic tank but outside of that I can't find much.

Any guidelines on distance required between the new house and the neighbouring houses, or the road frontage needed would be awesome.
