This is my submission for Flag Friday for Washington State.

This was originally made for, if I remember correctly, an alternate history scenario where Washington State pulled a New California Republic.

It's an earlier flag of mine and it's probably not the best one, but I feel it retains the original flag's design of having Washington on the flag while having it be in a much more dynamic way instead of that terrible seal.

As European migration and settlement increased in Equestria, the separatists of England decided this new world would be their home to practice their religious freedoms. However, Celestia, wanting to curb the growing number of immigrants, sought to integrate them into the established English colonies. The Pilgrims refused this offer, so she sent them back to England aboard the Mayflower. However, they ignored this and decided to sail down the river from Baltimare and set shop along it by the foot of the foothills of the mountains.

As stories of Celestia and her exploits against invading European powers and now visiting ponies to Europe spread like wildfire, new religions begin to appear. Some Christian denominations believed that Celestia was either an archangel of God or the steed of Christ. More pagan beliefs again gained prominence as many in the Balkans and even parts of Italy saw her as the horse of Helios, pulling his flaming chariot across the sky. These religions were not liked by the Catholic church, but some independent groups sought to cleanse Europe of these heretical beliefs through witch hunts. The Pope denounced these hunts as well as any beliefs around Celestia being a God. Celestia herself was also not a huge fan as the sudden attention of these fanatics didn't sit well with her as she didn't like being seen as above all and preferred to be seen as an equal.

The existence of Celestia and her ability to raise/lower the sun has thrown a wrench into the heliocentric models proposed by astronomers of the time. Though the belief that the Earth is still not the center of the universe is strong, the mere fact that Celestia can rotate the sun around Earth is hard to disprove.

1,000 years after her imprisonment, Nightmare Moon returned to Equestria to bring on eternal night. Where her plot was thwarted by Twilight and her friends, expelling the dark energy that corrupted Luna, returning her to normal. However, in Europe, the sudden disappearance of the sun sent many corners of the continent into a panic. Many believed it was the end and that god had forsaken mankind. Riots broke out, and panic spread. The streets of London echoed the screams of horror and mercy of its people. When the sun finally returned, the population of the continent was left wondering what had happened.

Though years had passed after Celestia's banishment of the French from Equestria due to their violation of her royal decree, they returned with a vengeance to reclaim what they saw as unjustly stolen from them, as not only were the lands taken given to England, but many of the slaves formerly in French hands were stripped from them and given citizenship in Equestria. Creating a new african minority class within Equestria. So to reclaim their stolen goods, France launched a war on Equestria, attacking their ports and the territories held by Britain, as King George the Third joined the war to defend their colonies.

As the war between Equestrian and British forces against France continued, Spain decided to put aside past grudges with the nation and fight alongside the French. However, due to issues in the homeland, Spain wasn't as equipped to invade, and it cost the French many battles against the Equestrian/British lines.

As Britain, France, and Spain were all busy fighting in the war, the Changeling Queen Chrysalis traveled across the Atlantic to set in motion a plan to slowly gain control of Europe and become more powerful than before. She began by kidnapping and disposing of the pope and taking on his likeness. Then flooded the Vatican's ranks with her subjects and began construction of a hive under Rome.

France's war was not going the way they planned, as while they had an earlier winning streak, the mobilization of Equestria's royal guard, equipped with modified airships and cannons supplied by the British, made quick work of their navy. The ground war was no better as under George Washington, the British had an astounding victory against the French on the outskirts of Baltimare and Phillydelphia aided by Unicorn sorcerers and Pegasi altering the weather to favor the British and put the French at a disadvantage.

Meanwhile, in Europe, and restored Luna sought to rediscover herself after her imprisonment as Nightmare Moon. During her travels in Europe, she became friendly with the nobility across the Germanic Kingdoms. She was invited to a ceremony where she was to be crowned the new Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Unfortunately, Francis, I died of an infection in 1741, so a new emperor was appointed. Emperor Luna was crowned in 1742 and ruled until 1758, when she stepped down from the position, feeling homesick and left for Equestria. She was the First and only Emperess of the HRE to be crowned, and her Rule was known to be a peaceful one.

After the French-Equestrian War, Britain had racked up a sizable bill. The selling of weapons to Equestria can do that. This, combined with the annual tax Britain had to pay to hold onto its New World land leases, led to a major rise in taxation across its empire. However, the Equestrian Colonists refused to pay the taxes, as they didn't want to pay for a war they saw as Equestria's, not theirs. Thus, it set in motion a series of events that would lead to outright rebellion.

Veteran of the French-Equestrian War, George Washington became a primary figurehead in the fight to have equal representation in the government of Britain and with his fellow founding fathers, wrote the Declaration of Independence as it was becoming increasingly obvious they weren't going to be listened to. So independence became their desired outcome. As for the Equestrian citizens, they were also unhappy with the British, who began occupying towns outside their colonies in search of rebels. Soldiers would cause mayhem in communities like Pony Ville, and unfortunately, when Mare Mayor held an assembly at town hall, British Soldiers mistook it for a riot and fired into the crowd, killing 80 ponies. This had upset many residents, including a pony by the name Applejack, who had previously joined Twilight Sparkle in defeating Nightmare Moon. She was becoming fed up with British Soldiers forcing themselves onto her farm, eating her apples, and even threatening her family at gunpoint. So, looking for a solution, she sought help, and that's where she met George Washington, as he had visited Pony Ville to purchase apples and smuggle messages to Rebels hiding in the Everfree Forest. After much talk, she was convinced to join the cause as she was tired of the British occupation and her own Government seeming to let these obvious transgressions against the Ponies of Equestria slide.

For years, the war for independence was fought between Britain and the Rebels. Aided financially and tactically by France, they fought a guerrilla war against the British as George Washington and Applejack became close allies. Often, the two would never leave each other's side as they fought grueling battles. Even crossing the Foalware together in the winter. Together, they became the face of the Revolution and a thorn in the King's side as on July 4, 1776, victory was won. The Rebels have achieved their goal and the Founders of the nation, Culombia, wrote the Articles of the Union. Thanks to Applejack's honesty and many ideas, there didn't have to be any revisions. This marked the beginning of a Nation full of hope and potential.

This is a bit of a crude drawing, but it works for now.

Im making an alien creature inspired by Rocky in the film but wanted to make my own take on the concepts proposed in PHM when it comes to the Eridians.

So, I started out with a starfish concept and added elements of coral. Basically, the idea was this is a lofeform that evolved on the possible earth like exo-planet Proxima Centauri B. Which I coined their anglofied name the Proxins. They are very similar to earth starfish and crabs and corals.

They have a central abdomin with four limbs that extruded from it. They have a hole which their mouth and anus connect to, so what comes in from it also comes out of it. It is also where their genitalia is located.

Now, instead of a pentagon shaped body like the starfish, it has a more oblong oval body. Crawling side to side like a crab. With an eye on each side, it gives it a near 360-degree vision. It is quadrupedal as it has four legs with spider-like paws on the end of them that it uses to manipulate their environment.

Their "bones" are similar to coral as they are made of minerals and inorganic material invested from the environment. It is a very hollow structure where the polyps that cover its body seep into.

Proxins don't have a centralized brain. Rather, they have four connected to each limb independently operating and working together. Its skin is, as mentioned, made of polyps that clone themselves and create the internal skeleton.

It's eyes are themselves specialized and modified polyps that are photo-receptive. Though a Proxins vision has a video view its relatively poor as they all have a form of red-green color blindness and have a lack of depth perception. So they rely much more on their hearing using echolocation. They breathe through the top of their body with a small valve that opens and closes.

When they eat, they prolapse their own stomach that blankets their food and creates a digestive sack that they carry under themselves. So when predators attack them, they can quickly drop what they are eating and make a getaway. When they have an empty stomach, they just eject their stomach and intestines instead and grow them back in 3 days.

They sleep in a strange way, too. When they rest, 3 brains sleep while one stays awake, and if it senses danger, the rest wake up, and the Proxin gets away from danger. The brains also take shifts every hour. This sleep only lasts 6 hours as in the meantime, the polyps absorb new material from their surroundings, building their structural skeleton. Essentially, when they wake up, they are larger than before. Not by a drastic amount, mind you.

There is more I want to develop about the Proxins and their biology, but I just wanted to share what I had so far and see if there are areas to improve. If you have input, I'd love to hear it.

Columbus, after reaching the New World, finds that \"India\" is home to many fantastical creatures. Seeing that this land is riddled with unicorns, he captures and kills around 50 and scalps their horns, bringing them back to Spain to show to the Monarchy of Spain. They fund a second voyage, but he never returns to Spain as a third voyage finds his ship sunk in the bay of Baltimare.

The word spreads in Europe that a new land filled with resources and valuable Unicorn Ivory lies beyond the Atlantic. Spain and Portugal make plans to colonize this new world. Spain wishes to take Equestria by force with a massive Spanish armada, while Portugal already has wealth pouring in from Africa and Asia, so they plan to send missionaries to the new world to convert the pagan ponies and awaken them to Christ. France, meanwhile, sends a voyage to Manhattan and strikes a peace deal with the Equestrian Monarchy, allowing them to settle zoned portions of Equestrian land, much to Spain's annoyance.

Spain prepares the largest Fleet in the nation's history up to that point to invade Equestria as they set sail across the Atlantic. Thousands of Conquistadors were ready to fight in the name of gold and god. However, the operation was rushed to ensure France wouldn't be able to settle properly in the new world before they did, causing many ships carrying men to become riddled with scurvy and 40% of the fleet's manpower dying at sea. When they arrived at the bay of Baltimare and began laying the coastal city to waste, Celestia responded quickly and sank the rest of the fleet to the bottom of the bay. 800 ships set out on this journey and only 7 returned to Spain.

France opened talks with trade as they were quickly getting rich off the incoming wealth of Equestrian bits made of gold entering the French economy and getting their hands on several magical artifacts gifted to them to better understand this new power the Ponies used. In return, cannons, muskets, and gunpowder were traded as they quickly made their way into the royal guard.

As France settled into their zoned areas for settlement they imported massive amounts of African slaves from the trans Atlantic slave trade to assist in the growing of sugar cane farms. However, before the industry can take hold, Celestia intervenes and halts it. This strains Frances's relationship to Equestria, as the trade of slaves on Equestrian soil is prohibited by royal decree.

Despite the royal decree, France ignores it and continues to import slaves into its colonies, causing Celestia to step in once again. Officially expelling the French from Equestrian land and forcing the colonists to pack up and return to France or face the consequences. This causes France to declare war on Equestria and send a fleet in retaliation.

During these prior events, King George II sent his own Fleet to invade Equestria, but when they arrived, they were met with open arms. Celestia, having banished the French from her lands, sought a new European ally to open trade again and have gunpowder and weapons begin flowing back into the kingdom to prepare for a future French or Spanish Invasion. This Sudden Alliance was much to George's surprise, as he didn't complain and was given the holdings previously owned by France.

Meanwhile, independent Dutch Explorers make their way to Equestria and begin to map the nation. Creating some of the most detailed maps of the land up to that point. As they wrote in their journals of all the sights and wonders of the land, they often compared it to a paradise of peace and prosperity. Their main objective, however, wasn't to see the sights but to find gold, and they made it as far as Appleloosa before turning back and returning home with no gold but new knowledge.

Celestia's main objective is to ensure peace with her kingdom and the rest of Europe. While Britain is now on her side, it isn't enough against Spain and France. Luckily for her, the two haven't allied yet as Spain launches a new invasion of Equestria after ignoring Celestia's deal for peace. Results for the Spanish are similar to before.

Spain, after two defeats at the hands of Equestria and its Princess, attempts to open trade; however, as their previous actions have soured the name Spain in the ponies' mouths, no pony wishes to trade. Spain's only reasonable response is to blame it on the Ottomans, who begin to harass the northern shores of Africa with their ships, sparking a brief 3-month war between the Ottomans and Spain.
