AMC Disney Springs should convert theater 2 to IMAX

I know they have a Dolby theater in 1, but a full 70mm IMAX screen in theater 2 would be huge. since Pointe Orlando has the shoddy old digital projector and no 70mm capability, a new option in the heart of the tourist area would be incredible. and the auditorium is enormous and should easily be able to handle a 1:33:1 IMAX screen.

They also already host 70mm and 35mm screenings which always sell out, so there's an audience for it.

Central Florida is in desperate need of a full IMAX experience and this seems the best and most likely way to do it!

Synopsis:

Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two combined into one epic film, telling the full story of the original novel in one sitting. This edit removes over two hours of footage to create a film of reasonable theatrical length.

Intention:

I wanted to see if I could create a single film out of Dune Part One and Dune Part Two. I had a few reasons for wanting to create this:

- I know that a single epic film of this story could work, as I did it with Frank Herbert's Dune.

- I have a blueprint of what exactly works, because of that prior edit.

- I have some friends and family that are Dune curious, but the investment of time coupled with how strange it is has prevented them from really diving in.

So this is Dune, the full story, whittled down to the absolute necessities. Not just for story, but for character arcs. It's an efficient edit, but the goal is to preserve a lot of that strangeness that makes it Dune.

Editing Details:

I wanted to cover the full story of the novel while also being necessarily ruthless to make a film with the right flow and pacing. Some scenes I love had to be cut for the greater good, but overall, the emotional and story beats all work here.

Cuts and Additions:

- I am not including every change here, but almost every scene has been touched in some way for timing and pacing.
- Extensive music replacement has been used for scene transitions, all from Zimmer's work on Dune.
- Paul's dreams throughout the film have been re-arranged, repurposed, and remixed.
- "Dune Part One" title card has been replaced with the title card from the end credits that simply reads "Dune"
- The sequence of events on Caladan have been trimmed and rearranged to move more efficiently while providing the necessary exposition.
- Duncan's introduction is cut, we meet him for the first time on Arrakis.
- The beginning of Gurney and Paul's training is trimmed, so we join them mid-fight. Gurney's on the nose explanation of how the personal shields work has been cut.
- Yuey's scene before Paul's test is cut.
- Paul does not confront Jessica after the test scene, that sequence ends with the Reverend Mother leaving.
- On Arrakis, much of the scenes touring the palace are cut. The first thing that happens is Duncan's return and the introduction of Stilgar.
- The assassination attempt with the dart has been cut. It's a cool scene and book accurate, but honestly doesn't feel like it adds a lot in this version as the full Harkonnen attack is going to happen so shortly after it.
- The scene on the Sardaukar planet (which is super awesome) has been cut, and the scene with the Reverend mother plotting with the Harkonnen's has been moved back into its place.
- Trimmed some of the attack on the Atreides, most notably Duncan's escape in the Thopter.
- Paul no longer has his fever dream in the tent.
- After it's revealed that the Baron survived the gas attack, we cut to Irulan's intro from Dune Part Two. I thought it was important to introduce her and the emperor earlier so they don't feel as disconnected from the first half of the story.
- Duncan's rescue, the Fremen base, the attack on it, and Paul and Jessica's escape have all been trimmed extensively to move faster.
- Some of the sandstorm sequence has been cut for time.
- Trimmed Paul and Jessica putting on their stilsuits and looking for the Fremen.
- Trimmed some of Jamis' dialogue leading up to the knife fight. The importance of Jamis has been removed, so he doesn't show up in later visions after his death.
- After Paul says "If you'll have us, we will come" cut straight to Part Two and the arrival at the Sietch. The (honestly really awesome) opening skirmish from Part Two is cut.
- Cleaned up the sietch arrival for time. Removed Stilgar speaking with the elders.
- Cut the chatter outside before Jessica drinks the water of life. It's good stuff, but a lot of the exposition here (north vs. south, non-believers, the prophecy) all gets covered in later scenes.
- After Jessica drinks the water of life, Paul starts training with Chani. These scenes are heavily trimmed and have more of a montage feel.
- The sandworm sequence is moved up to right after Paul's naming.
- The attack on Rabban is heavily trimmed, removing everything prior to him searching for the Fremen in the fog.
- The character of Lady Margot is completely removed.
- Feyd's intro is heavily trimmed, beginning with him entering the arena.
- The arena battle removes mention of some of the combatants being drugged and is trimmed for pacing.
- The sequence ends after Feyd exits the arena. The next time we see him is the attack on the Sietch.
- Gurney's re-intro and the following scenes through the reveal of the nukes are heavily trimmed for time and pace.
- Some of Chani's conflict with Paul is trimmed. It's important, but there's multiple scenes of her doubting him, they weren't all necessary.
- Paul's vision that leads him to drink the water of life is changed and trimmed. He no longer sees visions of Jamis. Shots are taken from various dream sequences and re-arranged.
- The cut scene of Jessica being shown how the water of life is made is repurposed to when Paul arrives. We see a truncated sequence of it being made before it's handed to him.
- Paul's vision is different after drinking the Water. Instead of seeing his sister, he now sees a rearranged version of the visions from his fever dream that were cut from earlier.
- Paul's arrival at the war council is trimmed.
- Feyd's "what do we do?" is cut, as I am a firm believer that it's one of the worst line deliveries of the last 20 years.
- A lot of the scenes showing Paul planning the battle are trimmed to get to it faster.
- The majority of the end of the film from the battle onwards is unchanged save for a few pacing trims.
- The "Dune Part Two" title card has been replaced with the one that just says "Dune"

I have also included English subtitles and extensive chapters.
