Removing a part of sphincter muscle

I wanted to ask about your experience with having a portion of the sphincter muscle removed. I’ve had four surgeries so far, including a seton and laser treatment. My surgeon said the issue is now close to the skin, and that removing a very small part of the muscle would be the best option. However, he did warn that I may struggle with control in my 70s or 80s, especially with holding stool.

Has anyone here had part of the muscle cut? Did it resolve the problem, and how has life been afterward? I’m currently on the waiting list for my fifth surgery, so I thought I should ask.
