Footer Drain Outlet
Our footer drain discharges by gravity into a deep sump style concrete catch basin on our front yard. The catch basin has a hooded iron pipe that is connected to a storm drain on the street. The house was built in the 1980s.
Our footer drain discharges below the waterline, which hovers around the cast iron pipe. I’m at a loss as to understand why. The footer only discharges when I run a utility pump in the catch basin to lower the water level.
I’m concerned that the footer drain is ineffective and trapping water around the foundation. I’m curious if anyone has ideas on how to fix this.
