It's everyone's favourite depressed self-mutating prehistoric axolotl.

Shin, at least by his design is one of the most drasticly different depictions of the Godzilla character. Instead of being a force of nature, a deity driven to rage or earth's defender that daily dropkicks kaijus, Shin is a personification of early 2010's natural disasters and Fukushima with the movie being a political allegory of the incompetence shown by Japanese goverment's response to these disasters.

Shin's design just screams tragedy. The emotionless face sometimes gives off the vibe that Shin is crying in some scenes or is terrified at what it has become. Of course, the best potrayals of his emotions come from the song *Who Will Know* and the more hopeful *Defeat Is No Option*.
