1 Mullet, 2 wheels

I’m building a new Mog frame up and am going to be using it for road training and gravel racing. I’m trying to decide between XPLR and Eagle transmission - I live in the mtns where 10% percent grades are common so the 52 cassette might be nice, but when on road it would be helpful to have tighter gearing at the high end.

I’m thinking of using an XX rear derailleur and Force E1 shifters. So my question is, would it be possible to run a road wheelset with a 13sp XPLR 10-46 cassette and a gravel wheelset with 12sp 10-52 cassette?

Crankset width would need to be wide in either case, correct?

Thanks!

Currently on a 2023 Cervelo Aspero-5 and looking for something that will fit bigger tires (50+mm) and a 1x Sram drivetrain. I do a lot of big rides and races on fairly chunky terrain with a lot of climbing, and the MOG seems to be the bike of choice around here but it's been around a while. What do you think? Is it due for a refresh, or is it still on the sharp end of modern gravel racing?

Other bikes on my radar are the Allied Able and the new Felt Breed. Open to suggestions.
